oe DuBois received his Bachelor of Science degree from the US Military Academy, West Point, New York. He was commissioned as a 2LT of Armor, US Army, upon graduation from West Point, and then served on active duty for four years. His military qualifications included that of the elite Army Rangers, and he received numerous decorations including the award of the Combat Infantryman’s Badge and two Bronze Star Medals. He resigned as a Captain to attend law school and earned his Juris Doctor from the University of San Diego Law School. He is a member of the California State Bar and the Orange County Bar Associations, as well as being a past member of the Los Angeles County Bar Association and the American Bar Association, where he was active in the Real Property and Litigation sections. He is currently a member of the Business Law, the Intellectual Property Law, and the Labor and Employment Law sections of the State Bar Association, in addition to being a member of the Business & Corporate Law, the Business Litigation, and the Labor and Employment sections of the Orange County Bar Association. Mr. DuBois is admitted to the Federal District Courts for the Central, Northern and Southern Districts of California. He is also a member of the Robert A. Banyard Inn of Court. Mr. DuBois has extensive experience working with a variety of businesspeople throughout Southern California, from the start-up and structure of the business through its dissolution. His practice emphasizes business and corporate issues; entity selection and formation; business and commercial litigation; and employment matters, from both the employer and employee perspective. Mr. DuBois represents clients engaged in an array of business enterprises, real property transactions, partnerships, corporations, limited liability companies, diverse contract and licensing matters, construction law and related litigation. Before joining Wesierski & Zurek, Mr. DuBois had his own private business and civil litigation practice. Prior to that, he spent ten years at a Newport Beach firm where he specialized in both business and construction litigation, and was formerly a principal in a large Los Angeles defense firm where he was responsible for the business transactions and litigation department. Mr. DuBois has been an adjunct professor in the Business Department at several local universities, including Saddleback College, the University of LaVerne, National University, and the University of Phoenix. He taught courses in business law and in the broader area of the legal environment of modern business, and was honored with an Outstanding Teacher Certificate by the University of Phoenix. He has also lectured on contract law, corporations, business entities, construction law, wrongful termination, sexual harassment, and civil litigation. Mr. DuBois is also active in the local business community, and curretly serves as the Chairman of the Board of Directors for the Newport Beach Chamber of Commerce. He has previously served two terms as the Chief Financial Officer of the Chamber, and has also served as its Secretary. Mr. DuBois is also an active member of the Commodores Club of the Newport Beach Chamber of Commerce. In addition, he is active in the West Point Society of Orange County, where he serves on the selection committee for the appointment of new cadets to the US Military Academy. He is also a member of the Board of Directors for the WPSOC. Mr. DuBois also serves on the Service Academy Review Board for Congressman Gary Miller. He also serves on the Men's Task Force steering committee for Human Options, an organization that assists battered women and their children. Mr. DuBois is also a past member of the Board of Directors for Leadership Tomorrow, a non-profit organization offering educational programs in civic awareness and leadership. |
