Ms. Shapiro was born at Huntington Memorial Hospital in Pasadena, California, where her father was doing his internship, and she has lived most of her life in Southern California.
Ms. Shapiro has been practicing law for over 25 years, after teaching elementary school for LAUSD. She is a sought after educator, having taught numerous Continuing Legal and Medical/Nursing Education courses on avoiding litigation/minimizing exposure and dealing with moral dilemmas in front of various professional groups and has been quoted as a legal expert in national magazines and on television.
She is consulted regularly by insurance companies, as well as current and former clients and opposing counsel for legal and ethical advice. She has solo and second chair jury and bench trial experience and has successfully argued in the various Courts of Appeal on over 20 occasions.
She has been a member of the Association of Southern California Defense Counsel, the Los Angeles County Bar Association, and has sat as a board member for the Orange County Boys and Girls Club, and The Alliance for Housing & Healing. In her little free time, she enjoys her wonderful supportive family of people and pets, obscure and thought-provoking documentary movies, jewelry making, sculpting, and trying things she’s never done before.
