Kenneth R. Zuetel, Jr. has been practicing law in Southern California for 42 years. He attended San Diego State University where he graduated with high honors in 1974, and was a member of four national honor societies including Phi Beta Kappa and Phi Kappa Phi. He graduated in the top 15% of his class from the University of San Diego School of Law in 1978, where he was Lead Articles Editor of the San Diego Law Review, and elected to Who’s Who Among University Graduates. Mr. Zuetel thereafter clerked for the United States District Court in Hawaii from 1978-79, and was an associate in the litigation department of two blue chip law firms from 1979-1988. Since 1988, Mr. Zuetel was has been a partner in the law firm of Zuetel & Associates in Pasadena, until becoming Of Counsel at Wesierski & Zurek in January 2020.

Mr. Zuetel has represented individuals, businesses, physicians, nurses, medical clinics, HMOs/PPOs, RRGs, attorneys and insurance companies. His areas of expertise include business litigation, medical and legal malpractice, Medical Board proceedings, and binding contractual arbitration.

Mr. Zuetel has represented both plaintiffs and defendants in complex medical malpractice matters. Although he has tried his share of jury trials, Mr. Zuetel’s special expertise is in binding contractual arbitration, where he has tried to verdict (award) nearly 150 matters, and served as an arbitrator in a similar number. His in-depth understanding of binding arbitration has been applied in a wide variety of civil actions, including those involving medical and attorney malpractice, real estate, tort, contract and various other forms of business and civil litigation. Mr. Zuetel has lectured widely to various physician, attorney, and related groups about binding arbitration, MICRA, and effective trial practice, co-authored two bills which became California statutes, served as a legal expert before the California and Nevada State Legislatures and authored over 25 book chapters and articles dealing with California law.

Since 1989, Mr. Zuetel has been listed as an A-V (highest) rated attorney by Martindale-Hubbell and in the Bar Register of Preeminent Lawyers, and is featured in the L.A. Times Southern California’s Top Rated Lawyers.

Mr. Zuetel is known for his ability to take complex subjects and fact patterns and to simplify them for the judge, arbitrator or jury. He enjoys his off-time with his family and travel.
